interface is an independent expert organisation specialising in information technology and public policy. Our goal is to ensure that political decision-makers have the expertise and ideas necessary to create policies and make decisions that put the public interest first. We provide analysis and ideas to decision-makers and the public across Europe on issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, platform oversight, global chip dynamics and government surveillance. To produce analysis and advice that matters to policymakers, our experts combine a deep understanding of technology with practical experience of how government processes work.

interface is looking for a student assistant in the communications team (m/f/d)

Remote

interface is a European think tank specializing in digital technologies, politics and society. Our aim is to provide policy makers with expertise and ideas - free from commercial interests or party politics.

As an independent think tank with headquarters in Berlin and colleagues in other European cities, we produce expert analyses and policy recommendations on topics like Artificial Intelligence, IT security, and digital rights, informing both policymakers and public debates.

Working field:

We are seeking a student assistant (m/f/d) to join our communications team and help promote our publications and events from November 2025 (12 hours/week). This position offers hands-on training in strategic communications related to tech policy issues, combining both content development and project management experience in a dynamic European think tank environment. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and proactive team player who can work independently and is passionate about think tank communications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • back-end management: taking care of our digital presence through website maintenance and social media channels
  • supporting our press relations work, including media contact research and database management
  • creating and editing content for mailings, newsletters, and event invitations
  • maintaining our internal knowledge base and ticketing system
  • preparing and presenting reports on research output and media coverage
  • supporting event planning and execution
  • coordinating with external service providers
  • assisting HR with recruitment processes and other departments with research tasks
  • contributing actively to team meetings and communications strategy

Requirements:

  • you are currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences – ideally for one to two years – we welcome all fields of study
  • You live and work in Germany and you are officially registered as a resident there
  • you are open to work in a remote team
  • excellent command of English and German (C2 level)
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • experience with or willingness to learn content management systems and database management
  • interest in tech policy topics (e.g., platform regulation, cybersecurity, digital rights, AI)
  • ability to work independently while being an effective team player
  • strong research and communication skills
  • proactive mindset and enthusiasm for diverse tasks
